Get ready for an exciting revival in the Arts District of Los Angeles! Following the upheaval caused by the pandemic in 2020, numerous establishments were forced to close their doors. However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon as the vibrant Arts District prepares to welcome the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District. Located at 821 Traction Street, this retail and office space is set to breathe new life into the neighborhood with its enticing array of restaurants and fashion boutiques.

After months of construction, the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District is finally taking shape. The complex exudes a Spanish Mission-style charm and boasts a spacious central courtyard and a rooftop area spanning approximately 40,000 square feet. It’s a sight to behold!

As the excitement builds, the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District has already welcomed its first pop-up art gallery, courtesy of Bianca Chen. Bianca, the daughter of Joel Chen (also known as J.F. Chen), has curated an impressive exhibition entitled “Ferns & Freeways,” showcasing the captivating works of artist and ceramicist Ben Medansky. This collaboration marks the beginning of an artistic journey within the Free Market.

In addition to this artistic venture, other notable brands have confirmed their presence at the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District. Alchemy Works, renowned for its retail, gallery, and event spaces, will be joining the lineup. With locations in Newport Beach, Denver, Playa Vista, and Napa Valley’s Yountville, Alchemy Works has gained acclaim for its distribution of top-tier brands such as Apolis bags, Clare V. accessories, Roam puffy sandals, Flamingo Estate candles, and various jewelry and vintage ceramic collections.

Summer will bring even more fashion-forward experiences to the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District with the arrival of Museum of Peace and Quiet. Founded in 2019 by Ashley and ChristiĆ²n Lennon, this Los Angeles-based unisex leisurewear label emerged after an inspirational road trip through the mesmerizing deserts of America.

Another prominent addition to the Free Market is the M5 concept-store, established by Michael Burns, formerly an executive at Moncler and Belstaff. M5 aims to bring a carefully curated selection of brands to its showroom and boutique in New York, and soon, to the Los Angeles Arts District. While the final lineup has yet to be confirmed, fashion enthusiasts can expect to see renowned names like President’s, Martine Rose, Stone Island, Sage de Cret, Sunspel, Engineered Garments, and Arc’teryx gracing the shelves for the first time.

Of course, no shopping and dining destination would be complete without exceptional culinary offerings. The Free Market Los Angeles Arts District will welcome several restaurants, with The Daughter’s Butcher being the first to open its plant-based eatery. Founded by Heather Tierney, this dining establishment has already made waves in the Venice neighborhood and is now expanding its horizons.

Free Market, a Denver-based company co-founded by Raan Parton and Lindsay Parton, describes itself as an ever-evolving collective that combines an incubator strategy with artistic understanding and infrastructural strength to develop and commercialize products, services, and experiences. The company’s first complex in Denver boasts an impressive lineup of thirteen brands, including Aesop, Alchemy Works, Credo Beauty, and Warby Parker. A second Free Market was launched at Runway Playa Vista in West Los Angeles in April 2021.

The future is looking bright for the Arts District in Los Angeles, thanks to the arrival of the Free Market Los Angeles Arts District.
